S.E. Shires Company is looking for a Bell Spinner / Brass Bell Maker to join our production team. This position involves forming and spinning brass instrument bells using lathes, hand tools, mandrels, and metalworking equipment. We are looking for someone with strong mechanical ability, good attention to detail, and pride in quality craftsmanship. Metalworking, fabrication, brazing, machining, or manufacturing experience is preferred. We are willing to train the right person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Form and spin brass instrument bells using spinning lathes and forming tools

  • Prepare, trim, fit, and assemble brass componentsManage customer correspondence from inquiry through post-sale follow-up ensuring satisfaction throughout the purchasing process.

  • Perform brazing, soldering, and other metal forming operations

  • Inspect parts for quality, consistency, and cosmetic finish

  • Use hand tools, measuring tools, mandrels, fixtures, and production equipment

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas

  • Follow safety and quality standards

  • Work with the production team to meet daily goals

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience in metalworking, fabrication, machining, welding, brazing, polishing, or related manufacturing preferred

  • Experience with lathes, spinning equipment, torches, or forming tools is a plus

  • Able to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment (exposure to noise, coolants, abrasives, heat, cold, and automated and manual machinery) wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, closed shoes, respirator, and other designated PPE.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on work

  • Strong hand skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail

  • Reliable attendance and positive attitude

  • Consistently meet production, quality, and attendance requirements

  • Musical instrument experience is a plus, but not required
