S.E. Shires, a premier manufacturer of professional brass instruments, is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Instrument Finisher / Buffer to join our production team. This is a hands-on role in a clean, organized manufacturing environment where you’ll help prepare and finish high-quality brass components used by musicians around the world. You don’t need musical experience—just a strong work ethic, good hand skills, and pride in doing quality work. We will train the right person.
Responsibilities
Buff, polish, and finish brass, nickel, and steel instrument parts
Assist with basic assembly of components using hand tools and light machinery
Perform light soldering/brazing tasks (training provided)
Handle and inspect parts to ensure quality standards are met
Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized
Follow standard work instructions with limited supervision
Wear required PPE (safety glasses, face shields, gloves)
Support team improvement and problem-solving efforts
Meet daily production, quality, and attendance expectations
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Experience in manufacturing, polishing, buffing, or general labor is a plus
Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
Ability to work in a fast-paced production setting
Reliable attendance and positive team attitude
Basic English communication skills
