About Us

The Wm. S. Haynes Company is seeking a full-time, in-house flute body maker. The person in this position will be responsible for constructing bodies out of precious metals that meet structural and cosmetic standards. While experience making flute bodies is preferred, we will train the right candidate. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build flute bodies from precious metals, following specific dimensional and aesthetic criteria

  • Maintenance of tools used in flute making

  • Produce small parts needed for flute body making and key making in quantity

  • Perform silver brazing and soft soldering

  • Operate traditional machine shop equipment, including lathes, mills, and grinders

  • Participate in available cross-training opportunities

Qualifications

  • An enthusiasm for the craft, hands-on work, and meticulous attention to detail

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Trained as a custom flute body maker or equivalent experience in instrument manufacturing

  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and make improvements based on feedback

  • Ability and willingness to communicate and collaborate with team members

  • Prior work experience preferred
