Shires Company, a leading manufacturer of professional brass instruments, is seeking an experienced, energetic, and hard-working Instrument Assembly Technician to join our production team in Holliston, Massachusetts. This hands-on role is responsible for assembling brass instrument parts and components using hand tools, light machinery, and basic soldering or brazing processes. The position requires careful craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
Instrument Assembly
Assemble simple to sophisticated brass instrument parts, subassemblies, and components
Use hand tools, torches, fixtures, and other light machinery to complete assembly work
Perform basic soldering and brazing of brass, nickel, and steel parts
Handle delicate components carefully to avoid dents, scratches, or other damage
Production & Process Support
Follow established work instructions, procedures, and quality standards
Complete routine production work with limited supervision after training
Support related production areas when needed to maintain flow and meet schedule requirements
Communicate issues, defects, or process concerns to the appropriate team members
Quality & Workplace Standards
Inspect parts and assemblies throughout the process to ensure quality expectations are met
Maintain clean, organized workstations and support 5S practices
Follow safety procedures and wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and face shields
Meet daily production, quality, and attendance expectations
Support team improvement initiatives and problem-solving efforts
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree or Technical School Degree preferred
Strong attention to detail, and uphold highest standards for quality
Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
Experience in manufacturing, assembly, soldering, brazing, metalworking, or musical instrument repair preferred
Musical instrument experience is a plus
