Job Description

The Wm. S. Haynes Company is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Retail Sales Manager to support showroom sales, instrument trials, educational programming, artist engagement, and marketing initiatives at our Acton, Massachusetts headquarters.

This position serves as a key customer-facing representative of the Haynes brand and plays an important role in connecting customers, artists, dealers, educators, and the factory. The ideal candidate is highly organized, service-oriented, enthusiastic about relationship building, and eager to contribute to both sales growth and brand development.

This role is designed as an entry-level sales position with significant opportunities for professional growth within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Sales & Customer Experience

  • Manage showroom appointments and customer visits

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for retail customers

  • Conduct instrument demonstrations and consultations

  • Drive showroom conversion and retail sales growth

  • Maintain customer records and follow-up communications

Instrument Trials & Inventory

  • Coordinate instrument trials for domestic and international customers

  • Manage trial logistics, shipping, and scheduling

  • Maintain accurate records of demo and trial inventory

  • Collaborate with sales staff to ensure efficient instrument utilization

  • Support inventory tracking and showroom readiness

Customer Service

  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding products, trials, repairs, and services

  • Assist customers throughout the sales and ownership experience

  • Coordinate communication between customers and internal departments

  • Support dealer and artist requests as needed

Young Artist & Educational Programming

  • Assist with management and coordination of Haynes Young Artist activities

  • Support educational initiatives and programming

  • Coordinate workshops, clinics, masterclasses, and special events

  • Help strengthen relationships with schools, universities, and music organizations

Marketing Support

  • Capture and organize photo and video content within the Haynes workshop

  • Support artist storytelling and content creation initiatives

  • Work closely with the Haynes Digital Marketing Consultant to provide content for social media, website, and promotional campaigns

  • Assist with artist visits, product launches, and event promotions

Events & Community Engagement

  • Support dealer visits and customer events hosted at Acton

  • Assist with factory tours and educational experiences

  • Help coordinate artist appearances and special programs

  • Representing the Haynes brand professionally at company event

Qualifications

Required

  • Knowledge of the flute and/or the flute industry

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Exceptional customer service orientation

  • Strong organizational and project management abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience

  • Sales, retail, customer service, or arts administration experience
