Bourgeois Guitars is a world-renowned maker of high-end, handcrafted instruments. Our sawmill produces premium red spruce and hardwood tonewoods used in our guitars and supplied to respected luthiers worldwide.

Job Summary
We are currently hiring for three sawmill roles, ranging from entry-level operators to an experienced Floor Lead – Sawyer/Supervisor. These are hands-on manufacturing positions in a small, skilled team where quality and craftsmanship matter.

Available positions

Entry Level Production Worker - Key Responsibilities (Will Train)

  • Assist in processing red spruce and hardwood logs into instrument-grade tonewood.

  • Support sawmill operations, including basic equipment operation, material handling, and workflow.

  • Perform visual quality checks and learn proper cutting and handling techniques.

  • Communicate with team members and supervisors to support daily production goals.

Mid Level Sawmill Operator - Key Responsibilities

  • Operate sawmill equipment to process red spruce and hardwood logs into instrument-grade tonewood, selecting appropriate cutting approaches to support quality and yield.

  • Perform saw setup, adjustments, and routine maintenance; identify and report equipment or production issues.

  • Monitor material flow and conduct quality checks to ensure tonewood meets required standards.

  • Work independently on assigned tasks while supporting daily production goals and workflow.

  • Assist with training newer employees.

Floor Lead - Sawyer/Supervisor - Key Responsibilities

  • Own daily production execution, including workflow coordination, quality standards and output targets.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, yield, and quality.

  • Lead processing of red spruce and hardwood logs into instrument-grade tonewood, selecting cutting strategies to maximize yield and quality.

  • Set up, adjust, and maintain sawmill equipment; troubleshoot production and equipment issues.

  • Coordinate shop-floor workflow, train team members.

  • Take ownership of safety, quality standards, communication, and continuous improvement

Additional Responsibilities for All Positions

  • Work is physical and performed in an active mill environment

  • Requires standing, lifting, and working around industrial equipment

  • Attention to detail is critical – material quality directly impacts final instruments

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment

  • Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements

  • Support daily production goals and team workflow

Ideal Candidates (include but not limited to and vary by position)

  • Previous experience in woodworking, carpentry, sawmill, lumberyard, or manufacturing environments.

  • Forklift experience or certification.

  • Mechanical aptitude or experience assisting with equipment maintenance.

  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

  • Interest in woodworking and craft-based manufacturing

Pay & Benefits

  • $18–$26+ per hour, depending on level and experience. Higher earnings potential as skills and responsibilities increases.

Employment Type

Full-time position (minimum 40 hours per week), with occasional overtime as needed to support production goals and meet customer demand.
